Frequently asked questions
Which VPN servers does OpenTunnel work with?
Cisco ASA and other gateways that speak the AnyConnect protocol. All you need is the server address your organization uses.
How does sign-in with Microsoft and MFA work?
OpenTunnel opens your organization's sign-in page in the background and fills in your user name. When Microsoft Authenticator asks for a number, the app shows it in large type. You always approve in Authenticator yourself.
What is split tunneling?
Only traffic to your organization's networks and to domains you add yourself (for example *.internal.company.com) goes through the VPN. Everything else goes direct, so it stays fast. If you do want everything through the VPN, turn on "All traffic through the VPN" per profile.
How do I get the iPhone or iPad version?
The iPhone and iPad app is in beta and available through TestFlight, by invitation. Send an email with the Apple ID email address you use for TestFlight.
I can't connect. What now?
Check the server address (without a path, for example vpn.company.com) and that you have internet without the VPN. If it still fails, send an email with what you see and, if possible, the log from the app (Log tab). Remove anything you don't want to share first.
Is OpenTunnel made by Cisco?
No. OpenTunnel is an independent app that can connect to AnyConnect-compatible gateways.
